5 medals have been given to Hungarian wines at the latest edition (Spring Tasting) of Mundus Vini international wine contest. 19 wines received gold medal, 2 of them are dry white – both by Tornai Winery from Somló – 2 sparkling wines, 5 of them are sweet Tokaj wines and 10 of the gold winners are red wines.

Hungarian wines have fetched several prizes at Asia Wine Trophy in South Korea, which is the largest wine expo in Asia, the foreign ministry said. A total of 37 Hungarian wines were presented at the event, and two received silver, nine received gold and Pannon Tokaj cellars’ Dominium 6 puttony aszú finished as the category winner, fetching a gold medal, ministry commissioner Gyula Budai said.

In the category of Bordeaux wines, in the subcategory of wines costing more than 5 pounds, a blended wine called Sauska Cuvée 5 2009 received the highest possible award – the first time such an honor is conferred on a Hungarian winemaker.
